SQL Database Architect

The SQL Database Architect maintains database by determining structural requirements; developing and installing solutions. This position designs and builds relational databases for data storage or processing. Develops strategies for warehouse implementation, data acquisition, and archive recovery. Cleans and maintains the database by removing and deleting old data. May evaluate new data sources for adherence to the organization’s quality standards and ease of integration. Key responsibilities Determines database structural requirements by analyzing client operations, applications, and programming; reviewing objectives with clients; evaluating current systems; Develops database solutions by designing proposed system; defining database physical structure and functional capabilities, security, back-up, and recovery specifications. Installs database systems by developing flowcharts; applying optimum access techniques; coordinating installation actions; documents actions. Maintains database performance by identifying and resolving production and application development problems; calculating optimum values for parameters; evaluating, integrating, and installing new releases; completing maintenance; answering user questions. Prepares users by conducting training. Provides database support by coding utilities, responding to user questions, and resolving problems. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations. Accomplishes information systems and organization mission by completing related results as needed. Minimum Qualifications Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree (Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Industrial Engineering) or equivalent work experience Minimum of 2 years of experience as a data architect Minimum of 2 years of experience in multidimensional data modeling, such as star schemas, snowflakes, normalized and de-normalized models Experience using with project management, ITIL and SDLC methodologies Solid experience with Data Warehouse and BI systems; extensive experience for collecting business requirements from customers, and transform the requirements into DB data processes and data schema Knowledge of relational SQL databases and SQL in at least one of the following environments: Microsoft SQL Server or MySQL Preferred Qualifications Experienced in database design, data maintenance, database security, and database management Experience conducting requirements analysis Ability to present technical Information Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills Ability to express ideas in clear and concise manner Ability to problem-solve and to think tactically and identify significant success factors Able to handle multiple tasks
