What is the opportunity?
As a Senior Solutions Architect you will collaborate with IT, Operations and business stakeholders to lead the development of end to end technical solution architecture for high complexity and high risk IT initiatives (e.g., $1 million – $20 million).
You will lead the creation of the solution approach, rationalization of the solution, presentation/communication of the solution, and as a guide to the delivery teams on implementation. Using your knowledge and expertise of various enterprise architecture frameworks and design techniques , you are the lead technical authority on the program(s) and responsible for planning all activities leading to the development of the overall solution architecture.
What will you do?
Assess and analyze business strategy, business requirements, current state environment and technology choices to evaluate solution. This could include identifying possible 3rd party vendor solution and leading the technical evaluation of the vendor solution.
Define end to end technical solutions that take into account the enterprise architecture strategies, current state environment and constraints. Analyze the viability of the solution to meet program timeline, budget and quality.
Act as the lead technical authority on the program and plan all activities leading to the development of the overall solution architecture. Develops and presents solution alternatives along with recommendations to executives and senior management.
Work across multiple functional teams (data, security, infrastructure, development, etc.) to ensure all aspects of the solution architecture are captured, defined and communicated.
Effectively communicate and build rapport with team members, stakeholders and interface groups using a variety of techniques and collaboration from initiation to closure.
Facilitate small to large group meetings for reviewing technical architecture, decision making and problem solving.
What do you need to succeed?
Bachelor’s degree in a technical area of study (computer science, mathematics, engineering, etc.) or other BS/BA degree
Total IT experience of at least 10 years, with 5+ years in solution architecture on large projects
Solid experience across a variety of technologies and design approaches (e.g. J2EE, .NET, mainframe, mid-range, vendor packaged and/or hosted solutions, multi-technology platform applications, human/document workflow, SOA, data analytics, etc.)
Demonstrated experience with program/projects involving complex integration of disparate types of technologies/platforms
Prior experience visualizing, depicting, and conveying complex concepts to a broadly diverse audience through various tools and communication approaches
Strong leadership skills (not a follower), comfortable managing large cross functional technical teams and ability to define, influence and impact the technical direction
Experience in the financial industry, particularly with securities brokerage, is desired
Advanced degrees, IT industry involvement, or highly varied technical experience
Experience with designing and implementing internet based architectural solutions
Experience with mobile design/development, cloud services, and/or big data analytics
Experience with designing transactional systems, in a geographically dispersed environment
Prior consulting experience in preferred
