Receive, prioritize & dispatch emergency & nonemergency calls utilizing advanced dispatch technology.
Aide callers to establish composure in order to obtain essential information.
Document information & dispatch the appropriate emergency personnel.
Monitor & transmit all radio communications, coordinate emergency requests.
Dispatch & call-out Public Works/Utilities emergency crews.
Enter information into the computer aided dispatch system.
Utilize OLETS & NCIC systems to query & enter data.
Maintain various logs.
Call for support resources; such as ambulances, tow trucks, etc.
Perform any other related duties as assigned.
High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
Valid Oklahoma Driver’s License & driving record acceptable to the City’s insurance carrier.
Highly stressful position-requires ability to multi-task, process & retain information while remaining calm.
Ability to operate computers & to learn Computer Aided Dispatch, OLETS and NCIC systems.
Able to maintain record logs, perform clerical functions.
Maintain efficient and effective working relationships with internal and external customers.
Will be required to complete extensive training for this position.
May be required to be on call in case of emergencies.
Must live within 30 minutes of the Communications Center.
Must be able to pass computer testing, background investigation & polygraph test.
Must be available to work shifts. Shifts include: 6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm & 10pm-6am.
