THIS IS AN OPS POSITION.

The Agency for Persons with Disabilities works in partnership with local communities to support people with developmental disabilities in living, learning, and working in their communities. APD provides critical services and supports for customers with developmental disabilities to reach their full potential. The Agency serves people with spina bifida, autism, Down syndrome, children age 3-5 at high risk of developmental disabilities, cerebral palsy, Prader-Willi syndrome, Phelan-McDermid syndrome, and intellectual disabilities. There is no charge or co-payment for services provided through the Agency.

The State of Florida participates in the Bencor National Plan for OPS employees. The BENCOR National Plan includes two tax-qualified, defined-contribution retirement investment plans. Approved by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and offered by BENCOR, Inc. (BENCOR), the Plan is divided into two parts: the FICA Alternative Plan and the Special Pay Plan.

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT:
It is the policy of the Florida Agency for Persons with Disabilities that applicants for employment undergo Level 2 employment screening in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 435, Florida Statutes, as a condition of employment or being permitted to serve as a volunteer.

No applicant for a designated position will be employed or permitted to volunteer until the Level 2 screening results are received, reviewed, and approved by the Agency.

Level 2 background screening shall include, but not be limited to, fingerprinting for Statewide criminal and juvenile records checks through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and Federal criminal records checks through the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and may include local criminal records checks through local law enforcement agencies.

THIS POSITION REQUIRES A BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION INCLUDING FINGERPRINTING, PURSUANT TO S. 110.1127(1), FLORIDA STATUTES.

DUTIES:
This is a temporary OPS position with the Agency for Persons with Disabilities. This position requires the candidate to exercise independent judgment and possess good clinical, documentation and communication skills. Intermediate Care Facilities for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF/IID) are an optional Medicaid benefit that enables states to provide comprehensive and individualized health care and rehabilitation services to individuals to promote their functional status and independence. APD is responsible for conducting the utilization/ continued stay reviews for all residents of public and private ICF/IID facilities.

Conduct, coordinate & distribute continued stay reviews (CSR).

Member of UR committee;

UR Coordinator;

Maintains ongoing communication with ICF and APD staff;

Documentation, coordination and any follow up of written continued stay reviews;

Works with agency staff, providers, individuals & families; and

Local travel.

Other duties as requested.

Requires:
Minimum of a 4-year degree from an accredited college or university

Knowledge of community resources and organizations

Knowledge of correct spelling, punctuation & grammar usage

Skill in operating a personal computer

Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision

Knowledge of developmental milestones

Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments

Ability to communicate effectively

Ability to follow instructions

Ability to prioritize individual workload

Ability to understand, interpret & apply applicable rules, regulations, policies & procedures

Ability to handle telephone calls in a courteous & effective manner
