Position Summary: Temporary position anticipated to end December 2017.
Responsibilities: Under general supervision, perform tasks to assistant laboratory technical staff and laboratory leadership. May perform multiple functions such as phlebotomy, clerical work, sample processing, and laboratory testing. If performing phlebotomy, must greet patients. Must recognize when further clarification is needed from clinical staff (e.g. providers and nursing staff) regarding laboratory orders and obtain required information to process laboratory specimens in a timely manner. Recognizes the importance of proper patient identification and respects patient confidentiality at all times. Conveys accurate laboratory test result information to providers and other clinical staff while ensuring that “read back” policies are adhered to at all times.
Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Additional Qualifications: Willingness to travel to other MCHS locations for assignments as needed. Moderate to advanced computer skills needed. Possess good written and oral communication skills, the ability to prioritize work, manage time wisely, and adjust to changes in work volumes and projects. Excellent customer service skills
License or Certification:
For Lab Assistant I-No additional requirements.
For Lab Assistant II- Applicant must possess and maintain a phlebotomy certification from an approved laboratory certification agency, a Medical Assistant certification, a MLT certification or an MT certification.

Exemption Status: Non-exempt
Compensation Detail: Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $14.83 per hour for Lab Assistant I and $15.63 per hour for Lab Assistant II.
Hours/Pay Period: 40 hours every two weeks
Schedule Details: 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM
Weekend Schedule: works every third weekend, may be asked to work additional weekends as needed
