Fruit of the Loom, an independent, wholly owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Inc. & leading international basic apparel company, has an immediate opening for an Product Management Intern – Spalding at its corporate headquarters in Bowling Green, KY.

The position of Product Management Intern will be a contributing member of the Marketing team. While interning, the incumbent will gain insightful knowledge into the sporting goods industry and product development process. Job responsibilities will be determined on as “as needed” basis based on current workload, but come from the general categories of new product development, financial analysis, branding, strategy and general business.

This role is designed to expose the Product Management intern to key areas of the Spalding/AAI/Dudley business. While the role is educational in nature, there will be significant opportunities to impact and lead projects in real-time.

Responsibilities/Duties

Provides assistance to the Product Marketing team on one or more sporting goods brands (Spalding, AAI, Dudley) within the following categories:

New Product Development

Competitive analysis and market research of sporting goods landscape

Product specification comparison and testing

New item set up, sampling, presentations

Product testing and data collection from internal and external group

Financial Analysis

Pricing and margin grid creation and analysis, including overall business ROI

P+L analysis of specific topics – sales trends, margin dilutions, fixed and variable costs

Branding, General Business, and Strategy

Database report creation and business reporting

Product lifecycle analysis on key products

Graphic development for print and electronic media, including print catalogs

Day-to-day business needs from marketing to aid in order processing and price rejects

Support marketing communication with other departments on key projects
Required Experience

Entry level intern position, no specific work experience required

Required Qualifications

In process of completing a Bachelor Degree in Marketing / Finance / Merchandising or related field.

Basic understanding of sporting goods marketplace

Desire to work in a product management and/or development role

Computer skills, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Ability to work independently, multi-task and use initiative in a fast paced environment.

Good communication and organizational skills.

Willingness to work cooperatively in a team environment and follow direction.
